Job description

Our client, a Local Auhtority based in the South West, are currently seeking a Principal Planning Officer for a 3-month initial contract. As a Principal Planning Officer, you will have the opporutnity to work on an interesting case-load of major applications and take on sign-off responsibilities for junior staff.

This role has a hybrid working arrangement and the succesful candidate can work remotely with occasional office/site visits.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle a diverse caseload of major planning applications
• Provide guidance and support to junior planning staff
• Review and make recommendations on planning reports
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with planning regulations
• Maintain accurate records and documentation

Job Requirements

• Significant experience in Development Management and Town Planning
• Strong knowledge of planning legislation and regulations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage a diverse workload and meet deadlines
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Proficiency in using planning software and tools
• Flexibility to work remotely with occasional site visits
• Qualification in Town Planning or a related field
