Job description


Our client, operating within the land and development/civil engineering sector, is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their team. This is a permanent role, ideal for an experienced professional with a solid background in geotechnical design. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in setting up a new venture within the London office working on the water works and transportation sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading geotechnical design and delivery projects with a focus on water works and transportation
  • Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers
  • Collaborating closely with the Associate Director to establish and grow the new venture
  • Conducting comprehensive geotechnical analyses and producing detailed reports
  • Ensuring quality and compliance with industry standards throughout project lifecycles
  • Managing project timelines and budgets effectively
  • Engaging in business development activities to expand the client base
  • Fostering strong relationships with clients and stakeholders through excellent communication and service

Job Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably with hands-on design expertise
  • Proven track record working on projects within the water and transportation sectors
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and guide junior staff
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification
