Job description
The strategic position involves covering a range of transport policy areas, consulting on and publishing an Action Plan that covers Accessibility, Walking, and Cycling. Additionally, you will monitor the progress of the transport strategy and publish a report on this.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consulting on and publishing an Action Plan for Accessibility, Walking, and Cycling
- Monitoring the progress of the transport strategy and publishing a report
- Leading the delivery of a walking, cycling, and accessibility action plan
- Completing and publishing a transport strategy monitoring report
- Responding to emerging transport policy demands
- Managing relations with external stakeholders
- Providing expert advice to elected members, management, and other colleagues
- Drafting funding bids and lobbying for investment
Job Requirements:
- Strategic understanding of transport planning policies, principles, and issues
- Experience within a recognised project management framework
- Proficiency in drafting responses to consultations on behalf of a local authority
- Capability to draft funding bids and lobby for investments
- Understanding of delivering complex transport or public space projects
- Qualification in transport planning, highway engineering, urban design, town planning, regeneration, project management or a related discipline at degree level or equivalent
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work creatively within a team
