Never settling for second best, it's this spirit of excellence that has driven Sunseeker to its leading position in the marine industry today.
About the job
As a GRP Laminating Trainee at Sunseeker, you'll undertake a four-week structured training course designed to prepare you for a successful career with a sought-after skillset. This course is delivered Monday to Friday, 0700-1515, by some of Sunseeker's longest serving Laminators.
Once you've left the training environment and commenced employment as a Sunseeker GRP Laminator, you will be fully involved throughout the production process, using a variety of manual techniques to wet-lay materials as well as preparing and releasing small and large moulds. You'll be working within a team, ensuring the production targets are met whilst upholding a flawless standard of workmanship to uphold the world-renowned Sunseeker quality standards.
GRP composite lamination involves fusing individual layers of fibreglass together to create a strong material or object. This can be a very messy, sticky job and will involve standing, moving equipment, reaching, lifting, twisting, and bending for a prolonged periods of time. You may also have to work at height or get into small spaces. The materials used within GRP Laminating produces a strong, distinctive smell, and can be dangerous without the appropriate use of PPE (provided free-of-charge by Sunseeker).
Your working hours will be 7.00am to 3.15pm Monday - Friday. The Portland site is easy to get to, with a local bus that arrives in time for your 7am start, or provided parking if you're using your own transport.
You'll start out as a temporary worker via Matchtech Recruitment and will have the opportunity to become a permanent member of the team once you're up and running.
Payrates:
The Sunseeker Training Programme has a progressive payment structure.
£11.82 From day one, all Trainees will receive £11.82 per hour as a basic rate of pay.
£12.77 After twelve weeks of service, your pay rate will automatically increase to £12.77 in accordance with the Agency Worker Regulations (AWR).
£14.00 After 26 weeks of continuous service, you will be eligible for a further pay increase, subject to a performance observation by your management team, and in consideration to your attendance, timekeeping, attitude, and development within the role.
Overtime is paid for hours worked over your basic 40 hours at time and a half or double pay on Sundays and Bank holidays. You will not be eligible to work overtime within your first eight weeks of employment.
You will also be entitled to 30 days holiday a year - inclusive of bank holidays.
Previous experience
You don't need any previous experience in laminating, but we are looking for candidates who have worked with their hands or on their feet in ideally a production or industrial based environment.
We are looking for individuals who will be committed long term to these positions, who can get to site for 7am every day, have a willingness to learn and love to get stuck in.
We would like to see your CV with all employment dates covered and any gaps in employment explained.
