We have a new opportunity for a Principal Developer - this is working for a leading retail company who are a househld name.

They have their headquarters in Chandlers Ford but only need you in the office one day per week.

Ideally they are looking for someone with EPOS/Payment Systems, Java and Vue/Node/JavaScript experience.

Our client, a renowned player in the technology sector, is currently seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join their innovative team in the UK. This permanent role offers a hybrid working pattern and plays a key part in Store Operations, aiming to build a state-of-the-art EPOS system using the latest technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership: Act as a visionary leader, influencing multiple squads, sharing expert knowledge, mentoring, and driving continuous improvement towards engineering excellence.
• Delivery: Drive major technology initiatives from start to finish, collaborating with architects and Product functions to shape roadmaps and steer long-range goals.
• Engineering Excellence: Design and implement robust software solutions to solve business-critical issues, embedding best practices across the engineering community.
• Knowledge Sharing: Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and provide guidance to achieve engineering goals.
• Relationship Management: Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders within and beyond the engineering team.
• Self-Management: Exemplify how to manage personal development effectively and promote a culture of continuous learning.
• Innovation: Promote responsible innovation, experiment with industry-leading tools, and recommend new technologies.

Job Requirements:

• Expert full-stack proficiency with experience in modern web technologies, including Java, JavaScript, Vue.js, Node.js, and automated test frameworks like Cypress or Selenium.
• Experience working with cloud-based solutions, preferably AWS.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and source control systems.
• Proven capability in leading the creation of robust solutions and high-quality code.
• Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate engineers to deliver consistently.
• Advanced understanding of technical concepts and the ability to apply them pragmatically.
• Exceptional communication skills to influence and inspire across all levels.
• Ability to define and implement engineering principles and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
• Self-starter mentality with the capacity for autonomous decision-making and responsibility.
• Promotes out-of-the-box thinking and a passion for continuous experimentation.
