Job description

Our client, a leading company in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect to join their team in Cheltenham. This is a contract role requiring eDV Clearance and involves working on-site for three days a week with commitment to five days as needed. This role will start as soon as possible and last for 12 months.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architecture Design: Develop and maintain comprehensive infrastructure architecture blueprints and roadmaps that align with the client's objectives and technical requirements.
• Technology Evaluation: Evaluate emerging technologies and tools, and provide recommendations for adoption to enhance system performance, scalability, and security.
• Implementation Oversight: Lead the implementation of infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with application development, security, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of infrastructure solutions.
• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure designs, configurations, and processes to ensure knowledge sharing and operational efficiency.
• Performance Tuning: Monitor and analyse infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to optimize system performance.
• Security: Ensure that infrastructure solutions are designed and implemented with a strong focus on security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure the availability and reliability of critical systems and data.
• Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective solutions.

Job Requirements:

• Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of servers, storage, data centres, networking, virtualization, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and implement tactical solutions.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and drive initiatives to successful completion.
• Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
