Job description
The Role:
Responsible person will be dealing with a variety of day-to-day tasks supporting the senior leadership/ field engineering manager and wider construction team in delivering the building services elements of the project which include the following services.
- Earthing (CDegs) and Lightning Protection
- CCTV
- Access Control
- lighting Internal & External
- Small Power
- Data
- Refuge Systems
- IT
- Emergency telephone
- Fire Protection, Suppression & Detection
- HVAC
- Lifts
- Building Plumbing and potable water
Responsible person will be collaborating with several package subcontractors on a day-to-day basis, some of which have typical design and build duties, primary focus is to ensure the building services elements of the project are delivered in a technically compliant and timely manner. Principally focused on the administration block, but then distributing through to site wide process areas where MEP services are positioned and terminated.
Responsibilities.
Daily activities will include:
- Reviewing internal performance specifications and documentation for compliance against specification and regulations prior to external review and use within RFQ.
- Weekly attendance and participation in all subcontractor progress/technical meetings.
- Working to ensure design and installation is fit for purpose and value engineered to control cost and installation time.
- Daily site walk overs to review work completed and health and Safety standards are being complied with.
- Reviewing sub-contractor designs for compliance against project specifications and regulations.
- Assisting and collaborating with internal international engineering departments to ensure UK typical working practices are being adopted.
- Ensuring procedures are adhered to by all relevant subcontractors and are in accordance with current legislation.
- Day to day support and adjustment of infrastructure as required, including liaison with user groups, preparation of documentation for design changes, approved appointment of contractors and site supervision.
- Assisting in always maintaining Health and Safety standards across the project.
- Maintaining technical submission and RFI schedules
- POC for construction colleagues to ensure up to date technical information is in the field and technical compliance is achieved.
- Monitoring and reporting on Sub-Contractor progress against programme.
- Liaising with subcontracts manager to ensure sub-contractors complete daily tasks.
- Liasing with Quality Control functions to ensure snagging and system hand over is successful.
- Control of trouble-shooting engineering support when required and assisting with technical work arounds.
- Assisting the construction team with technical queries to ensure the scope is constructed in accordance with specification.
- Assisting with commissioning process and procedures to ensure all services are operating correctly.
Applicants for the role must be able to meet the following criteria:
- Either electrical or mechanical bias is accepted but must have a broad appreciation of all services noted above.
- Demonstrable Previous experience in similar roles on EFW projects is preferred. Similar experience not EFW related will be considered provided there is enough transferrable skillset.
- Demonstrable experience working for a principal contractor and collaborating with subcontractors and design houses alike is preferred.
- A degree/HND in building services engineering is preferrable.
- 10+ years post graduate related experience.
- A good understanding or working knowledge of software packages such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, Microsoft.
- Outgoing, motivated with a team player attitude.
- Ability to deal with people at all levels.
- Strong knowledge of Building Management Systems.
- Positive and resolute attitude for highly regulated Health and Safety standards.
