Job description
Our client, a pioneer in the renewables sector, is currently seeking a Shallow Marine Geophysicist to join their innovative team remotely. This is a permanent role where you can contribute from the comfort of your home in the UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada, or Norway.
Key Responsibilities:
- Remote data acquisition and processing of MBES, Side-scan Sonar, & shallow Sub-bottom Profiler (Innomar) sensors
- Side scan sonar data processing including seabed picking, interpretation, production of mosaic and seabed features
- Shallow SBP (Innomar) processing and interpretation
- Magnetometer data processing
- Data processing and quality control of all survey geophysical data, creating final deliverables to a high standard
- Survey System Setup - hardware and software configuration prior to vessel mobilisation on a project
- Online surveying on projects in shifts
- Quality Control - monitoring of the data being captured using online and offline survey tools
- Report writing and client interaction
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Geoscience or Geophysics
- Experience in acquisition and processing of MBES, Side-scan Sonar, & Shallow sub-bottom Sensors
- Experience in one or more of Chesapeake SonarWiz, DUG Insight and Oasis Montaj processing software packages
- Sidescan Sonar processing experience to include seabed picking, target ID, tagging and listing, creation and export of navigationally and gain corrected mosaics
- Innomar data processing experience including SEGy conversion, tidal reduction, band-pass and denoise filtering, acoustic-gain control, interpretation, and export of subsurface horizons and contact hyperbolas
- Magnetometer processing experience including filtering and processing of navigation, creation of residual and analytical signal grids, and production of final target listings and deliverables
- Strong computer literacy, especially in the configuration of sensor equipment
- Enthusiastic, positive, and proactive nature with keen attention to detail
Desirable Experience:
- Experience in bathymetry data acquisition and processing
- Experience with marine survey data acquisition and processing software (e.g., QINSy, Qimera, EIVA)
- Knowledge of ARC GIS and AutoCad
- Relevant marine qualifications such as Yachtmaster, Coastal Skipper, ICC (or equivalent)
