Job description
In this role, you will be responsible for executing Systems Engineering activities within multi-disciplinary project teams, ensuring mechanical, electrical, and software designs are integrated and that the system ultimately meets customer requirements.
You will thrive on the challenges of complex systems and conflicting requirements, with a keen eye for detail. This role provides the opportunity to take a leading role in project delivery, with significant responsibility for managing risks, costs, and schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirements capture and management.
- Functional and physical systems architecture design and definition.
- System modelling.
- Development of Engineering Management Plans (Safety Management, Test Integration & Acceptance, Technical Risk Management).
- Gathering verification evidence for system requirements.
- Creation of procurement specifications for sub-systems and components.
- Writing test specifications.
- Conducting design reviews.
- Environmental qualification plans (EMC, Temperature, Shock & Vibration).
Skills & Experience:
Essential
- A degree in Engineering or physical sciences.
- 1-3 years of systems engineering experience in a defence or similar industry.
- Proficient in using requirements management tools (DOORS, Visure, or R4J).
- Work package management experience in JIRA.
- Strong report writing skills.
Desirable
- Experience with the full development lifecycle of a product.
- Experience working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects.
- Knowledge of safety management standards (MIL-STD 882E, DEF-STAN 00-56, ISO 12100:2010).
- Statutory compliance knowledge (CE marking).
- Familiarity with camera sensor technology (Infrared and visible spectrum, DRI performance).
- Experience with fault-tree and failure mode analysis.
