Job description
Our client, a prominent organisation in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking an Export Control Assistant Practitioner - Shipping to join their team on a contract basis in Barrow. This hybrid role involves working 1-2 days per week on-site and supporting the Export Control function within the business unit for submarine solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Export Control function in managing and completing daily export control tasks and matters
- Manage and support the allocation of tasks, queries and input to business processes
- Assess information received and provide input or escalate matters for senior input when required
- Review and develop business export control processes and user guides; undertake audits of compliance against business processes
- Assist with risk/opportunity management using formal business methodologies and establish risk mitigation plans and reviews
- Prepare training for cross-functional stakeholders to ensure required knowledge and awareness across the business
- Update registers, user guides and SharePoint as required, with attention to detail
- Support export control assurance activities and root cause analysis reviews
- Communicate export control matters to the wider business clearly and concisely
- Assist with formal and regulatory export controls investigations and evidence formulation for potential breaches
Job Requirements:
- Experience as a BAE-Export Control Assistant or similar role
- Solid understanding of import/export shipping within the Defence sector
- Familiarity with export control regulations and compliance requirements
- Strong organisational and detail-oriented skills
- Proficiency in using SharePoint and other business process tools
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Security clearance (SC), subject to ITAR and UK eyes only
