Job description
Our client, a leading organisation in the maritime industry, is currently seeking a Senior Designer - Electrical to join their team on a contract basis in Barrow-in-Furness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Using the CAD toolset to produce 3D models of electrical routed systems and electrical equipment integration, such as switchboards and power units
- Mature and develop 2D electrical schematics and system diagrams
- Producing outputs, including 2D drawings and electronic data, to support manufacturing, installation, and testing of products
- Developing and maintaining close working relationships with other design teams and stakeholders
- Working as a team to produce an integrated design that meets customer expectations and requirements
Job Requirements:
- Relevant apprenticeship, engineering qualification, or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge and understanding of electrical routed systems at both 2D and 3D levels
- Experience in electrical compartment integration and Engineering Standards
- Understanding of CAD toolsets and techniques, such as Foran, CADDS5, AutoCAD, Solidworks, Tribon, and Siemens NX
- Technical drawings skills and experience in setting out drawing sets
- Experience with PLM toolsets like Teamcenter, Database Manager, and Windchill
- Submarine or shipbuilding product knowledge from an electrical perspective is desirable, or transferable skills from other industries
The Electrical Design Team:
As a Senior Designer in the Electrical Design discipline, the role involves 3D modelling and integration of various electrical systems and the compartment integration of electrical equipment. This role also includes constructing a Bill of Materials (BoM) for your design area within the submarine. You will report to a Project Leader and work within a team of designers with varying levels of experience and knowledge.
