Job description
Our client is looking to recruit a Senior Highways Engineer. They are looking for people who are passionate about engineering and would like to play a vital role leading on the delivery of highway design solutions primarily in the East of England.
As a Senior Highways Engineer your duties & responsibilities will be:
- Project lead for the design of highways maintenance and improvement schemes with responsibility for delivery to time, cost and quality requirements.
- Undertake technical design checks
- Site visits for surveys and inspections to support the design process
- Production of feasibility reports
- Resource planning and co-ordination of multi-disciplinary teams, including sub-consultants.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and processes.
- Ensure legal compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Work collaboratively with customers to understand and develop project objectives/deliverables.
- Manage, build and develop customer relationships.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
- Incorporated / Chartered Engineer or a highly experienced Engineer working towards IEng/CEng
- Evidence of leading multi-disciplinary projects to achieve customer's programme, cost and quality expectations.
- Extensive design & construction experience in highways.
- Practical experience in the application and review of alignment, drainage and sign design software and AutoCad package.
- Experience of commercial awareness in project delivery.
- Extensive experience of National Highways & Local Authority design standards & contracts.
- Evidence of developing and mentoring staff.
- Experience of design resource planning and programme management.
- Evidence of managing H&S in design and construction.
- Computer literate with Microsoft packages
- Experience of the NEC suite of contract documents and contract administration.
- UK/EEC driving licence
