Job description
Matchtech are working with a key client in Toronto to recruit for Power Supply Engineers and OCS Engineers to work on high profile mass transit projects.
This role requires full relocation to Toronto to work closely with the local project teams and is offering in country hybrid working.
Experience requirements includes but not limited to:
Functional/Technical
- Leads the review and comment on design deliverables provided by designers, consultants, and suppliers. Review will be independent from other teams across the program adopting an approach of general overview and reasonable checking.
- Responsible for the electrical systems life cycle assurance for a railway corridor including conceptual design development, detailed design reviews adopting an approach of general overview and reasonable checking.
- Organizes and conducts meetings with key staff and management to communicate information related to each project requirements.
- Review and provide comment on deliverables to assess detailed interconnection construction drawings and support material from conceptual drawings.
- Review suitability of evidence from Design, Construction and Testing and Commissioning team for verification and validation purposes.
- Ensuring functional coordination across a matrix organization
- Ensure the safety, EHS and compliance requirements are fulfilled at all times and properly implemented in the electrification scope of works
- Review the Electrification strategy definition in line with contract requirements, including PMP elaboration and objectives allocation to the team (planning, cost, quality, performance)
- Lead and coordinate electrification activities and stakeholders from transfer to close-out, including Design, Procurement, Installation, T&C, Maintenance, and Warranty phases
- Definition of electrification objectives and main drivers (product/ service performance, planning) to achieve customer satisfaction in the frame of the Contract
- Make sure that key project stakeholders are aligned with project/goals
- Monitor and periodically mobilise a team of engineers to assist with review of design work packages and other submittals.
- Have an understanding of System Engineering approach to project delivery; both System Integration and System Assurance.
- Provide advice on requests for deviations from standards related to electrification of a railway corridor.
- Establish standards and best practices for quality of the reporting and analytics throughout CPG
Education
Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or scientific subjects
Experience
Minimum of 5-10 years of engineering experience in a multi-disciplinary environment on major railway projects. Minimum of 10 years of work experience in electrification, energy efficiency, etc.
Experience with Traction Power Substations, Overhead Catenary Systems (AC an advantage), SCADA, and stray current control in electrified railway applications.
Experience in engineering, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations, and/or other project-related activities
Certifications or Designations - Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario
Technical Competencies:
- Knowledge of the electrical utility regulatory framework in Ontario with a focus on LDC requirements and OTC processes.
- Familiarity with IHSA and work protection an asset.
- Advanced understanding of railway electrification principles and design considerations for Overhead Catenary systems and traction power system design.
- Understanding of traction power control systems (SCADA)
- An extensive technical knowledge of engineering systems, design, applications of engineering processes and materials, and engineering applications of current engineering technologies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project planning, controls and understanding of multidisciplinary interdependencies.
- Understand complexity of implementation of Electrification systems within an operating rail environment
- Team management (capacity to coordinate and ensure collaboration of multi-site/multi-meter teams)
