Job description
Our client, a leader in the nuclear sector, is seeking an Engineering Manager for a contract position based in Aldermaston. This role involves providing the facility design solution and delivering integrated facility designs with appropriate safety documentation. The contract is for 18 months, and you will need to be on site 2-3 days per week once fully trained. Please note that DV Clearance is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be the lead engineering representative on the project, responsible for quality, safety, value for money, and schedule.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all engineering matters on the project.
- Ensure the Engineering Requirements are suitable and appropriate, advising the Senior Engineering Manager as needed.
- Recommend the budget and programme to deliver the design.
- Assess the suitability of engineering design resources and ensure adequate competency records.
- Lead, communicate, and deliver Facility Designs with attention to safety, quality, schedule, cost effectiveness, and lifetime value for money.
- Maintain oversight of the facility design via routine reviews.
- Deliver design solutions that meet business needs and functional performance while being licensable and deliverable.
- Manage the Design Intent and Design Information Configuration from inception to project handover.
- Provide functional support for identifying and implementing change, and develop the Facility Design capability within the organisation.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in EC&I/Mechanical engineering.
- Proficiency in manufacturing lifecycle design.
- Experience in project/process management and engineering management.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of Kanban, mechanical interlocks, and gloveboxes.
- DV Clearance is essential.
Desirable experience includes a background in the nuclear sector or specifically with AWE.
