Senior Engineer (Highways Infrastructure)

Location: Norwich
Salary: £45,000 - £53,000 + package (including subsidence for those based far away)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

About the Project
Join the delivery of a Tier 1 highways infrastructure project, focusing on earthworks, drainage, fencing, and barriers. We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to take a lead role in site operations.

Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing critical elements of the project and leading a small team of engineers. Your duties will include:

• Site Leadership: Lead and guide a team of 3-4 site engineers, ensuring project delivery aligns with specifications, safety, and quality standards.
• Project Experience: Bring your expertise in roadworks and infrastructure projects, particularly in earthworks, drainage, fencing, and barriers.
• Project Execution: Support and manage all on-site activities, ensuring that the construction is delivered within scope, time, and budget.
• Problem Solving: Oversee and provide solutions for engineering challenges that may arise during the project.
• Support for Sub-Agent: Step in to cover for the Sub-Agent during absences, taking on additional responsibilities such as order control and quality assurance.
• Preparation Work: Take ownership of project preparation and ensure smooth on-site execution.

Required Experience and Skills

• Proven experience in major highways/infrastructure projects, particularly National Highways (NH) standards.
• Strong background in earthworks, drainage, fencing, and barriers.
• Ability to manage and lead site engineers, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
• Competency in managing site operations and working closely with the site team.
• Experience preparing sites and managing early works.
• Flexibility to cover for Sub-Agent when required.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with multiple project stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects, ideally in the highways sector.
• Relevant professional memberships (ICE, IEng, etc.) are desirable but not essential.

• Competitive salary up to £53,000.
