Job description
Our client, a leading player in the automation and energy sectors, is currently seeking a skilled Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to join their team. This permanent role will play a crucial part in the maintenance and operation of all electrical and instrumentation equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of their establishment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identifying, scheduling, and carrying out planned and corrective maintenance checks and repairs
- Routine servicing of electrical, electronic, and electrical control equipment such as distribution panels, motors, controllers, and starters
- Reporting maintenance activities into the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Inspecting, maintaining, and replacing ATEX equipment in hazardous areas
- Maintaining all site services in good working order and ensuring compliance with safe working practices
- Responding to 24-hour call-outs or providing advice on plant breakdowns outside normal working hours
- Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new plant facilities
- Liaising with and supervising contractors to ensure compliance with permits and acceptable standards
Job Requirements:
- Experience in maintaining low-voltage electrical distribution and PLC control equipment and associated control signals
- Electrical qualification (apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3) with an excellent understanding of electrical control systems
- Sound understanding of process instrumentation control systems
- CompEx Inspection Certificate Ex01 to Ex04
- Experience in HV switching and operation advantageous
- Previous experience working in hazardous areas, preferably in the oil and gas industry
- Ability to plan and prioritise daily activities to ensure safety and process control systems operate efficiently
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
