Job description
We are looking for a Qiality Inspector to join our team, providing essential Radiography, Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), to support high-integrity pipework and structural welding on submarines. This role involves working across the Barrow site and onboard submarine builds, ensuring radiographic inspections meet the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply Radiography principles to submarine build processes, with a focus on quality and safety.
- Ensure compliance with Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR 2017) and industrial radiological safety standards.
- Perform routine work independently and manage complex tasks under supervision.
- Conduct site radiography (Gamma and X-ray)
- Interpret radiography techniques and identify non-conformances.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to report inspection results and ensure project timelines are met.
- Use company computer systems and software for inspection reporting.
- Support surface inspections such as Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI).
- Provide guidance on best practices in radiography and support the training of junior inspectors.
- Maintain and calibrate radiographic equipment, ensuring safety and functionality checks are performed regularly.
Core Requirements:
- PCN Level 2 Radiography (Welds).
- PCN Basic Radiation Safety and PCN Level 2 (NDE) - Dye-Penetrant Inspection.
- Strong understanding of Ionising Radiations Regulations (IRR 2017).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and radiographic equipment operation.
- Experience with Gamma Radiography (Ir192 & Se75) and structural/pipework practices.
