Job description
Position Overview
This role involves setting up and operating both CNC and manual grinding machines, selecting and mounting appropriate cutting tools, and conducting quality control checks with precise measurement equipment. Routine inspection and maintenance of machinery and tooling are essential to ensure all parts meet specifications and to minimize production downtime.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC grinding machines as well as manual cylindrical and surface grinding machines.
- Manufacture and modify engine components, including cams and cranks, to support internal and external development programs.
- Use measuring equipment (e.g., gauges, CMMs, Adcole) to verify component compliance with specifications.
- Perform basic TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) tasks, including equipment cleaning and lubrication.
- Train and mentor junior team members and apprentices as needed.
- Contribute to the implementation of new equipment and process changes.
- Actively engage in continuous improvement by suggesting enhancements to methods, processes, and tooling.
- Prioritize health, safety, environmental, and energy impact considerations in all activities.
- Support adherence to data protection policies and practices.
Candidate Profile
- Ability to interpret and communicate technical information effectively.
- Knowledge of various grinding techniques (internal/external, between centers, surface grinding).
- Experience with work-holding methods and machine coding with strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in tool setting, measurement equipment, and wheel mounting/dressing.
- Strong numerical and computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Background in automotive engineering is advantageous.
