Job description


Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager required to join an international engineering company. Ideally we are looking for individuals who have worked on UK rail projects as you will be supporting several around the Birmingham area.

We are looking for individuals who would be interested in either contract or permanent opportunities. Hybrid working is offered but you will be required to work in the office 2-3 days a week and the rest from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and managing all aspects of quantity surveying on rail projects
  • Providing commercial support to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to high standards
  • Preparing tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other documentation
  • Managing and mitigating commercial risks across the project lifecycle
  • Monitoring project progress and producing detailed reports
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Ensuring all work complies with legal and contractual requirements
  • Providing financial insight and advice to support project decision-making

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in quantity surveying, particularly within the rail sector
  • Strong commercial management skills
  • Proficiency in preparing and managing tender documents and contracts
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
