Job description

Our client, a leading organisation in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a C++ Software Engineer to join their team on a contract basis in Bristol. This role involves developing solutions for the next generation of Air Defence Systems, with a focus on safety, performance, and dependability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and developing Command and Control architectures for future products
• Proactively contributing to the evolution of software solutions
• Collaborating with team members to maintain development momentum
• Ensuring effective documentation throughout the software development process
• Implementing and integrating automated target solutions
• Exploring new tools, techniques, and approaches to improve process efficiency and sustainability
• Engaging with requirement authorities to ensure alignment with project goals

Job Requirements:

• Strong background in software engineering and understanding of system-wide impacts
• Experience in working with embedded C/C++
• Collaborative and open approach to development
• Experience across the entire software development process
• Familiarity with other languages such as Ada and QT
• Knowledge of DDS middleware and Real Time Operating Systems
• Understanding of standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C, or IEC61508, and restricted coding standards such as MISRA C++

• Must have Security Clearance (SC) to start
