Job description

Our client, a distinguished entity in the water industry, is seeking an Estimator with expertise in mechanical or electrical disciplines. This opportunity is available in either Durham, servicing Northumbrian Water projects, or in Manchester, working with United Utilities. This is a permanent role offering hybrid working conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing and managing cost estimates for water industry projects
• Reviewing project plans and specifications to determine labour, material, and time requirements
• Consulting with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates
• Coordinating with project managers to ensure accurate forecasting and budgeting
• Monitoring and reporting on project expenditure and adjustments
• Developing relationships with suppliers and negotiating best rates for materials and services
• Providing technical support and expertise in mechanical and electrical disciplines
• Producing detailed project documentation and cost reports

Job Requirements:

• Experience in mechanical or electrical estimating within the water industry, with a preference for mechanical expertise
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Proficiency in relevant estimating software and tools
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to travel between the Durham and Manchester locations as required
• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
