Job description

BAE Systems, a renowned name in the defence and security sector, is searching for a Senior Detail Designer - Outfit to join their esteemed team. This contract role, part of the Naval Ships business unit, promises a challenging and rewarding experience in one of the most critical industries today.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing detailed designs using Foran software specifically for outfitting purposes.
• Collaborating closely with engineering teams to ensure alignment with project specifications.
• Preparing technical documentation and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Providing design solutions for shipbuilding projects, ensuring all designs meet safety and regulatory standards.
• Reviewing and validating drawings and designs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Assisting in project planning and scheduling, ensuring timely delivery of design phases.
• Liaising with site teams in Scotstoun and potentially Portsmouth to gather requirements and feedback.
• Adopting hybrid working arrangements, with an expectation of being on-site for at least 2 days per week.

Job Requirements:

• Experience as a BAE-Outfit designer, specifically in naval ship projects.
• Profound understanding of outfitting design principles within the defence sector.
• Proficiency in Foran design software and other relevant design tools.
• Strong shipbuilding experience and familiarity with safety regulations and standards.
• Excellent technical documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
