Job description

You will provide insightful comments on behalf of the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) during planning application consultations, ensuring that development proposals adhere to best practices along with national and local policy guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing flood risk data and surface water drainage schemes
  • Providing specialist advice to planning application consultations
  • Ensuring development proposals align with best practices, national and local policies
  • Communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders, including attending planning committees
  • Dealing with challenging situations or escalated complaints with well-developed customer service skills
  • Managing and prioritising work effectively to meet deadlines
  • Potential involvement in project management tasks

Job Requirements:

  • Substantial experience and technical skills in flood risk and surface water drainage assessments within the planning process
  • Excellent understanding of best practice guidance and tools for surface water drainage and flood risk management
  • Proven ability to communicate specialist advice both in written and verbal formats
  • Strong customer service skills with significant persuasion and influencing abilities
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Project management experience is desirable
