Contract Opportunity: Aircraft Maintenance & Weapons Systems Technician

Location: RAF Coningsby

We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Maintenance & Weapons Systems Technician to undertake key maintenance and diagnostic activities on aircraft systems and components. This contract role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment supporting essential military air operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aircraft Maintenance: Conduct maintenance and diagnostic activities, including:
    • Aircraft ground handling and flight servicing
    • Aircraft role changes and AD embodiments
    • Component removals, inspections, repairs, and modifications
    • Fault rectifications, replacements, and functional/system tests
  • Task Management: Ensure maintenance tasks are completed to schedule, resolving issues or escalating when necessary.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Maintain personal task authorizations and comply with SHE policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other teams to meet overall objectives and demonstrate continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Technical Expertise: Broad and in-depth product knowledge in aeronautical engineering and weapons systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive and flexible approach to maintenance tasks and issue resolution.
  • Compliance Awareness: Understanding of Weapon Functional Competence & Capability policies.

Qualifications:

  • Essential:
    • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship (preferably in Aeronautical Engineering) or military equivalent.
    • Minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or equivalent.
    • Formal EaPW / Weapons training certification.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience, demonstrating full competency with appropriate authorizations.
  • Strong systems experience, maintaining currency and recency through a logbook (electronic or physical).
