Job description


This role is crucial for overseeing the management of engineering infrastructure and workshop-related operational services. You will be responsible for designing, delivering, maintaining, and managing infrastructure and coordinating operational services for optimum asset management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and allocate service resources, ensuring effective planning and organisation of workloads.
  • Support the management of staff, fleet, plant, equipment, and materials. Set targets, monitor performance, and identify training needs.
  • Train and develop staff in accordance with Performance Management and CPD.
  • Monitor and implement health & safety protocols and develop safe systems of work.
  • Evaluate service activities to ensure proper planning and scheduling.
  • Promote and deliver a customer-centred service, ensuring excellent customer care.
  • Encourage continuous improvement through technical expertise and knowledge development.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of services using performance indicators and produce reports.
  • Manage budgets, maximising income while minimising expenditure to ensure value for money.
  • Contribute to the management of asset inventories and valuations.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in managing engineering infrastructure and workshop operations.
  • Strong skills in operations management, highway services, and depot management.
  • Proficiency in budget management, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Ability to implement and monitor health & safety procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on resident and stakeholder engagement.
  • Capacity for continuous improvement and technical expertise development.
  • Understanding of asset management and maintenance.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a team of operatives.
