Job description

Our client, a leading company in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer for a critical defence programme. This role will be on a contract basis for an initial period of twelve months, and it requires working on-site for two days per week. This opportunity involves working within a company specialising in antennas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining firmware for defence-related applications
• Contributing to the design, development, and testing of firmware components
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of firmware with hardware and software systems
• Providing technical expertise and guidance on firmware development best practices
• Documenting firmware design and development processes
• Debugging and resolving firmware-related issues to ensure optimal performance
• Ensuring compliance with defence industry standards and protocols
• Supporting the lifecycle management of firmware through upgrades and maintenance

Job Requirements:

• Experience in firmware development within the defence industry
• Strong knowledge of software engineering principles and practices
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in firmware development
• Understanding of hardware and software integration
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders

Contract Details:

• 12 months contract
