Materials and Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Bristol - Hybrid Working
Contract Type: 12-Month Contract
Overview:
The AUKUS UK Programme Delivery Office (PDO) is seeking a highly skilled Materials and Manufacturing Engineer to support the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) AUKUS PDO. This critical objectives. With the AUKUS leadership announcement in March 2023 establishing the SSN-AUKUS (SSNA) design based on the United Kingdom's next-generation SSN, this role is pivotal to ensuring the UK meets its commitments and provides critical support to the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA).
As part of this role, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Naval Authority Technology Group (NATG) and contribute expertise in materials engineering and manufacturing processes, specifically related to ferrous metals and heavy plate production.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven expertise in materials and/or manufacturing engineering, with a specialization in ferrous metals (critical requirement).
- Strong understanding of heavy plate production methods, including ingot and concast processes (experience in any industry is acceptable; defence industry experience is not mandatory).
- Comprehensive knowledge of auditing and assurance processes for materials specifications and standards
- Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering, and reviewing experimental test plans.
