Job description


Our client, a leading provider in the engineering and maintenance sector, is currently seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join their team in Warrington or Chesterfield on a permanent basis. This hybrid working role involves carrying out proposal and estimating activities, primarily focusing on single and low complexity multi-discipline proposals. The aim is to support the business strategy by maintaining an up-to-date body of knowledge for proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full responsibility for assigned proposals, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery that reflects agreed strategies
  • Lead single-discipline proposals and low complexity multi-discipline proposals
  • Handle all aspects including estimate/costing, price, technical and commercial submission documents, and contractual reviews
  • Collaborate with operations to develop and agree on execution concepts
  • Obtain relevant third-party input and ensure all work is compliant with procedures
  • Initiate checks and reviews to ensure the quality of work
  • Liaise with clients for information, clarifications, and site visits, and participate in negotiations
  • Provide estimation input to other proposals and attend proposal strategy development meetings

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in mechanical estimating, particularly in areas such as oil & gas, nuclear, utilities, and power
  • Strong skills in piping design and mechanical engineering
  • Ability to work in a structured and organised manner
  • Proficiency in leading proposals and managing comprehensive estimating processes
  • Understanding of ISO quality standards and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients and internal teams
  • Degree in a relevant engineering or numerical discipline, or equivalent experience
