Job description


Our client, a leading consultancy in the rail sector, is currently seeking skilled Rail Systems / Overhead Catenary Engineers to join their team on a contract basis, contributing to major HS2 projects in the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with industry-leading professionals and make a significant impact on high-profile rail infrastructure developments, with a focus on electrification and overhead catenary systems (OCS).

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

  • Be a key contributor to a dynamic and innovative rail design team delivering world-class solutions
  • Develop overhead catenary systems layout drawings, profiles, hanger tabulations, erection diagrams, and technical specifications
  • Conduct quality control reviews and design checks to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Take the lead on major tasks, guiding project progress and ensuring deliverables are met
  • Ensure all designs and activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and HS2 project requirements for OCS

By leveraging your expertise in OCS and rail electrification, you will play a pivotal role in delivering solutions that enhance connectivity and support the future of transport in the UK.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, with relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or OpenRail
  • Full UK Driving Licence to facilitate site visits and client meetings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership
  • Experience in railway systems, specifically in Overhead Catenary Systems and Traction Power
  • Demonstrable experience with UK-based rail clients or agencies such as Network Rail, HS2, or Transport for London (TfL)
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards
