Job description
Our client BAE Systems, a leading organisation in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Senior Procurement Professional to join their team on a contract basis at their Scotstoun site, with hybrid working arrangements available for 3-4 days per week. The role involves providing procurement expertise and support to meet the operational needs of the business unit. This is a non-engineering position within the business unit NS and is expected to last for 12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage contracts throughout their lifecycle in conjunction with the business
- Raise formal documents to support the sourcing and contracting process, including Request for Information, Request for Quotation, Assessment documents, and Purchase Orders
- Agree and discharge workload, ensuring priorities are managed and any issues of concern are escalated
- Effectively manage the order book to ensure timely deliveries and accurate cash forecasting
- Manage supplier payment processes and resolve any goods receiving and supplier debt issues
- Proactively manage instances of supplier under-performance against cost, quality, and schedule
- Work collaboratively to identify and escalate risks
- Identify and deliver cost savings
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience working within a procurement or similar environment
- High standard of procurement competence in key areas of sourcing, process knowledge, contracting skills, and supplier management
- Works on own initiative with limited supervision and with responsibility for delivery, escalating concerns when necessary
- Ability to analyse information and implement solutions that best meet the requirements of the business
- Ability to prioritise workload based on business needs
- Good stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of purchase to pay systems, risk, and supplier management tools
