Job description

This is a permanent position providing a unique opportunity to manage and oversee asset management activities for highways structures within a high-profile infrastructure project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all asset management activities for highways structure assets, including specified and strategic structures, bridges and tunnels
• Own asset management strategies covering inspection, maintenance, and renewal of highways structure assets
• Act as a sponsor in gateway meetings for lifecycle renewal projects, ensuring projects deliver benefits within budget
• Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and the Commercial & Asset Delivery team to optimise and approve scopes and methodologies
• Support the Engineering Manager with technical approvals and managing departures from standards
• Drive innovation, efficiency, and carbon reduction throughout the gateway process
• Develop innovation business cases based on long-term asset risks and opportunities
• Support the development of the Asset Management Forward Plan
• Understand and utilise Asset Management IT systems to review and challenge inputs and configurations
• Support the annual review and update of integrated asset management system elements, including strategies, procedures, and ISO 55001 certification
• Collaborate with relevant teams to understand impacts of strategic changes on contract and asset performance

Job Requirements:

• Chartered Engineer (ICE or equivalent) or relevant accreditation
• Experience in managing large-scale and complex infrastructure assets from a client perspective, ideally in highways structures
• Ability to set, challenge, and refine asset management strategies for highways structures in line with handback requirements
• Decision-making skills with the ability to balance stakeholder requirements
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Proactive attitude and ability to operate autonomously in a senior team
• Ability to manage and deliver multiple projects in parallel
• IT literate, with knowledge of Asset Management IT systems being a plus
