Job description
Our client, a prominent Local Authority is currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This role focuses on the design and delivery of public realm improvement projects, with an emphasis on sustainable urban drainage schemes (SuDS), greening initiatives, and area-based improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the design and delivery of public realm improvement projects within the healthy streets team
- Managing projects such as sustainable urban drainage schemes (SuDS) and greening initiatives
- Collaborating with other officers in the Healthy Streets team and the wider Public Realm and Climate Change and Transport team
- Securing external funding for various projects
- Providing specialist guidance and support to other service areas
- Ensuring all projects and initiatives align with the council's climate change and biodiversity goals
- Coordinating and monitoring project progress to ensure timely delivery
- Engaging with stakeholders and the community to foster support for projects
Job Requirements:
- Experience in drainage and traffic engineering within an urban environment
- Strong understanding of sustainable urban drainage schemes (SuDS) and related concepts
- Proficiency in project management and delivery, particularly within the public realm sector
- Familiarity with climate change and biodiversity initiatives and their implementation
- Capable of securing external funding and managing budgets
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Relevant engineering qualification
