Our client, a large Aerospace and Defence supplier is looking for a Draughtsperson to join them on an initial 6 month contract at their site in Brighton.
- Due to the nature of the role, applicants must have a minimum of 5 years UK residency and be willing to undergo basic security checks.
- 4-5 days per week onsite in Brighton.
- Outside IR35, £40 p/h - £45 p/h Ltd.
- 6 month initial contract.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Performs a wide range of design assignments in support of electrical, mechanical and/or electro-mechanical engineering.
- Utilising CAD (Solidworks) and PDM (Solidworks PDM Pro), prepares detailed and layout drawings from sketches, layouts, or notes provided by engineering.
- Contributes to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product.
- Checks design drawings for correctness and conformance to standards.
- Ensures best CAD practices and modelling is undertaken.
- Determines space requirements, clearances, locations and arrangements based on design specifications.
- Prepares accurate drawings and schematics with proper tolerances, dimensions and instructions.
- Produce design schemes and proposals in response to specifications, under guidance of lead engineers / senior designers.
- Maintains correct configuration control of products in accordance with company procedures.
- Select and source proprietary parts/components that are fit for purpose
- Support project and manage own work to meet schedule
- Follow procedures to meet the requirements of ISO-9001and AS9100
- Support internal, customer and supplier meetings
- Comply with Quality Assurance (QA) requirements and QA procedures
EXPERIENCE / ACHIEVEMENTS
Essential
- 5 to 10 years design drawing engineering and 3D CAD (Solidworks)
- Aerospace experience, however multiple sector experience also considered
- Liaison with Shop Floor / Manufacturing / Operations
- Mechanisms and pneumatics an advantage
- Full life cycle design
- Mechanical Detailing
- Electrical/Electronic knowledge, including electrical cabling in extreme environments (aerospace) and electronics packaging
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- Good understanding of; Geometric Tolerancing, Stack-Up Analysis, BS8888, limits/fits.
- Proficient user of Solid Works / Solidworks PDM.
- Good understanding of Design Office practices, Drawing Issue and Change processes
- Familiar with the requirements and capabilities of PDM and ERP systems.
- Ability to resolve challenges quickly and ingeniously
- Design products with low costs from the outset (DFMA & Design to Cost methodologies)
- Attention to detail essential.
- Ability to work to deadlines, prioritise workload appropriately in conjunction with Project Management.
- Perform work accurately with minimal supervision; Methodical approach to their work.
- Understanding of design requirements to ensure designs meet contracted specifications.
- Basic Mechanical Engineering Calculations.
- Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes utilised in Aerospace.
