Job description

Our client BAE Systems, a prominent player in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join their Shared Services team in Preston on a contract basis for 12 months. This role involves a hybrid working arrangement, requiring you to be onsite 4 days a week during training, reducing to 1-2 days once up to speed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing financial support to an operational environment
• Preparing accurate and efficient finance information
• Managing high volumes of data
• Supporting Management Accountants and Business Partners
• Ensuring annual financial targets (EBITA & Cash) are met
• Delivering SS reporting activities on schedule
• Contributing to change and transformation activities
• Identifying, communicating and implementing process improvements

Job Requirements:

• Strong technical accounting knowledge (studying towards finance accreditation)
• Proficiency in IT and analytical skills, particularly Excel
• Experience using financial systems such as SAP is desirable
• Ability to communicate effectively with the operational team
• Strong skills in planning, organising and managing multiple delivery requirements against tight deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and good problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work on your own initiative
