Our client, a prominent force in the Defence and Security sector, is currently seeking a talented Detail Designer for a contract role within their Naval Ships business unit. This opportunity offers the chance to work in Scotstoun, with the potential for remote work or placement in Portsmouth, reflecting a degree of flexible working arrangements. The role spans over 12 months and engages with crucial shipbuilding projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing detailed designs for naval ships, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Utilising 3D CAD software to create accurate and detailed design models.
• Collaborating with various engineering teams to integrate and optimise design solutions.
• Preparing technical documentation and reports for project stakeholders.
• Providing support during the production phase to resolve any design-related issues.
• Conducting design reviews and making necessary adjustments based on feedback.
• Ensuring that all designs adhere to safety and regulatory requirements.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in design techniques.

Job Requirements:

• Experience in detailed design within a marine or shipbuilding environment.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software; experience with Foran is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Understanding of naval architecture and marine engineering principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across different departments.
• BPSS security clearance or eligibility to obtain it.
• Flexibility regarding potential remote work or different site work locations.
