Our client, a prominent force in the Defence and Security sector, is currently seeking a talented Detail Designer for a contract role within their Naval Ships business unit. This opportunity offers the chance to work in Scotstoun, with the potential for remote work or placement in Portsmouth, reflecting a degree of flexible working arrangements. The role spans over 12 months and engages with crucial shipbuilding projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing detailed designs for naval ships, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Utilising 3D CAD software to create accurate and detailed design models.
- Collaborating with various engineering teams to integrate and optimise design solutions.
- Preparing technical documentation and reports for project stakeholders.
- Providing support during the production phase to resolve any design-related issues.
- Conducting design reviews and making necessary adjustments based on feedback.
- Ensuring that all designs adhere to safety and regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in design techniques.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in detailed design within a marine or shipbuilding environment.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software; experience with Foran is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Understanding of naval architecture and marine engineering principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across different departments.
- BPSS security clearance or eligibility to obtain it.
- Flexibility regarding potential remote work or different site work locations.
