Job description


Our client, a prominent player in the defence sector, is currently seeking a Principal Engineer specialising in Systems, Requirements, and Acceptance. This is a contract role offering the challenge and excitement of working within the maritime naval ships business unit. The position is based in Broad Oak, New Malden and Dorchester, with a hybrid working arrangement requiring on-site presence 1-2 days per month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining effective partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholders including customers, suppliers and other internal teams
  • Applying in-depth knowledge and expertise in Requirements Systems Engineering
  • Utilising DOORS requirements management software confidently
  • Contributing to a team-based working environment
  • Exhibiting good influencing skills within a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Acting as an intelligent supplier by anticipating the likely needs of the MOD customer
  • Capturing and maintaining data generated for use by the project and employing relevant tools and techniques
  • Demonstrating flexibility in the approach to required tasks
  • Accepting responsibility for and showing a visible commitment to SHE and quality

Job Requirements:

  • Significant experience as a Systems Engineer within the defence sector
  • Proficiency in requirements management software such as DOORS
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in a collaborative working environment
  • Strong influencing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Understanding of data capture and maintenance processes
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards
