Job description
Our client, a leading provider of sustainable mechanical, electrical, and telecommunication engineering solutions in the Rail sector, is seeking multiple Quantity Surveyors & Senior Quantity Surveyors for locations including London, Midlands and South West.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with and support the Project Manager(s) to ensure projects meet commercial and financial targets.
- Build strong and collaborative relationships with client and supplier counterparts.
- Contribute to regular and accurate reporting to the Commercial Manager for PHR/CVR/Cash Flow/Weekly Updates.
- Accountable for project budgets and responsible for determining regular commercial forecasts.
- Carry out valuations for initial, interim, and final payment applications.
- Manage project sub-contractor and supplier accounts in line with agreed contracts and upstream contractual requirements.
- Identify, notify, value, and agree on changes (variations, compensation events, claims).
- Work with the Commercial Manager to maximise the recovery of all contractual entitlements.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, particularly regarding notices and applications.
- Maintain contemporary records for use in supporting claims, extensions of time, and evaluation of variations.
- Support tender processes as required.
- Promote and maintain professional working relationships.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimise commercial impacts.
Job Requirements:
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience with standard forms of contract.
- Adept knowledge of MS packages, including Excel, Project, and Word.
- Understanding of valuation techniques for construction works, including elemental cost analysis.
- Ability to use programme analysis and measurement of Earned Value.
- Understanding of accounting concepts and forecasting cost and value based on programme and scope of works.
- Experience with tools for project and business cost management, including cost-saving techniques.
Desired:
- Detailed knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Knowledge of JCT contracts.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent.
Desired:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
- Professional memberships such as RICS, CIOB, ICES, or equivalent.
- Holds a valid CSCS card.
- Holds a full UK driver's license.
