Job description


Our client, a leading organisation in the energy sector, is currently seeking a dedicated Planner (OHL) to join their team on a permanent basis. As a Planner specialising in Overhead Lines (OHL), you will play a crucial role in the planning and scheduling of OHL projects within the organisation. You will be responsible for developing comprehensive project plans, coordinating activities, and ensuring efficient resource allocation to support the successful delivery of OHL projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside the Electrical Project Manager to manage assigned projects, ensuring that all key targets are achieved.
  • Taking ownership of jobs from receipt to completion.
  • Providing updates to customers and clients throughout job progression.
  • Accurately updating all work management systems and trackers (Depotnet, Smart Sheet, Schedule).
  • Planning work to meet requested dates and programming required work elements.
  • Utilising available resources and correctly assigning required craftsmen.
  • Liaising with affected stakeholders and authorities.
  • Organising carding packs for accurate outage notification delivery.
  • Managing job portfolios and providing weekly updates to the Planning Manager.
  • Producing jeopardy reports and managing timely job completion.
  • Maintaining and enhancing working relationships with key contacts across projects.
  • Actively contributing to departmental plans and reporting progress on performance regularly.

Job Requirements:

  • Current or expired DNO authorisation in SSE or other equivalent.
  • Experience in planning electrical network outages at both LV and HV.
  • Proficient use and knowledge of software such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Understanding of the new roads and street works act.
  • Knowledge of the "Safety at Street Works and Road Works Code of Practice".
  • Experience using SSEN's EO Web online mapping system.
  • Experience within the utilities industry.
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and within a team.
