Role:
The Procurement Principal Professional (Generalist) works as a member of a business or functional team to provide Procurement expertise, services, support and / or strategy implementation / deployment to meet the operational needs of line management within a defined business unit or functional area. Reporting to a Procurement Manager, the delivery of this service will typically be as a member of a Procurement team with responsibilities for delivering procurement capability. The role requires a good and broad professional knowledge and understanding of Practices, Including an understanding of the impact and implications of decisions made. The Procurement Principal Professional (Generalist), as a member of the Procurement team and community within a business / function, will deploy corporate Procurement processes in line with local or business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading procurement activities and managing a team of procurement professionals.
- Developing and implementing sourcing strategies to support business requirements.
- Negotiating complex contract terms, securing agreements beneficial to the organisation.
- Managing supplier relationships and monitoring supplier performance.
- Ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand and meet procurement needs.
- Conducting financial analysis to support procurement decisions.
- Providing procurement expertise and guidance to the wider team.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Procurement Analyst or Supply Chain Analyst.
- Proficiency in procurement, buying, and supply chain management.
- Competence in sourcing process knowledge, contracting skills, financial awareness, and supplier management.
- Understanding of procurement processes within the defence and security sector.
- Strong negotiation skills, particularly in complex contract terms.
- Effective communication and influencing abilities.
Security Level:
- BPSS + SC security clearance.
This role will require you to hold or be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC). You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship and have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum 5 year period.
