Job description


Our client, a prominent player in the maritime sector, is seeking 2 Principal Engineer - Safety & Environmental Engineers to join their team on a contract basis. This role is pivotal within the Submarine Solutions business unit, and involves contributing to the development and delivery of submarine systems and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of an Integrated Development Team to develop and deliver submarine systems and capabilities
  • Ensuring that Product Safety tasks and activities are completed across multiple systems in support of project milestones
  • Supporting Hazard Identification and Analysis studies
  • Assisting with or generating safety reports
  • Ensuring the team operates within the project Safety Management System
  • Liaising with other Integrated Development Teams and the Whole Boat Safety Team

Job Requirements:

  • Understanding of Safety and Systems Engineering and Engineering Life Cycle Management
  • Experience working and delivering tasks as part of a team, with the ability to work unsupervised
  • Practical experience as a Product Safety Engineer, preferably within the maritime defence sector
  • Ability to adapt to varied working practices and customer expectations
  • Self-motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills

Contract Details:

  • Location: Filton or Barrow
  • Contract Length: 6 months
  • Attendance: 2 days a fortnight (SSNA working pattern)
