Job description

Our client, a leader in the water sector, is currently seeking experienced Wastewater Design Engineers to join their growing team in Leeds or Preston on a contract basis. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, sustainable, and innovative wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure designs for major water companies as part of the AMP8 framework.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and contribute to the design of wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and sewerage networks
• Develop concept, outline, and detailed designs in compliance with client specifications and industry standards
• Conduct hydraulic modelling, process engineering assessments, and feasibility studies
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure designs meet project requirements
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and graduates
• Ensure designs comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Support the preparation of project proposals, reports, and documentation

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Chartered or working towards Chartership with ICE, CIWEM, or IStructE (desirable)
• Experience in wastewater design within a consultancy or contractor environment
• Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, InfoWorks ICM, or similar
• Strong knowledge of UK water industry standards, including Sewers for Adoption and relevant British Standards
• Experience in hydraulic modelling and process engineering principles
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines
