Job description
Location: Basildon (fully onsite)
Duration: 6 month contract
Rate: £70ph UMB (Inside IR35)
Role details:
Our client, a prominent entity within the Defence and Security sector, is presently seeking two Principal Electronics Engineers to join their team in Basildon. This is a 6-month contract requiring onsite presence to support the development of the Hostile Artillery Locating System (HALO). HALO is an advanced long-range acoustic weapon locating system designed to address the growing threats from electronic warfare and anti-radar weapon systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop hardware solutions, including the design of in-house PCBs
- Assist Systems Engineers in developing requirements and architecture
- Support the integration of hardware, firmware, and software
- Participate in qualification activities and trials proving
- Document and record work products, manage configurations, and provide progress reports
- Work within a multi-disciplined team to resolve technical issues
Job Requirements:
- Electronics-based qualification (BTEC, HND, or Apprenticeship) or sufficient experience
- Understanding of all stages of the engineering development lifecycle
- Familiarity with circuit design (schematic capture) and simulation tools
- Practical experience in Hardware, Firmware & Software Integration of Microprocessor Based designs
- Experience integrating in-house designs with COTS modules (power supplies, single board computers, RF interfaces)
- Proficiency in debugging, testing, and verifying new designs
- Methodical approach to the full hardware design lifecycle and structured hardware processes
- Knowledge in Design for EMC (DFx)
- Ability to manage work schedules within project timescales and budgets
- Ready to attend the Basildon site regularly for testing and integration activities
Desirable Skills:
- Domain experience in low noise analogue electronics
