Job description


Our client is currently seeking an experienced Temporary Works Manager to oversee and coordinate temporary works for wastewater infrastructure projects in Leeds/ Preston. This is a freelance/contract opportunity, inside IR35, within the water sector, focusing on civil engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of temporary works on wastewater infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Act as the Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC), ensuring design and execution align with project requirements.
  • Liaise with Temporary Works Designers, Engineers, and Contractors to review and approve temporary works designs.
  • Conduct risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safety briefings related to temporary works.
  • Ensure all temporary works are installed, maintained, and dismantled safely and in accordance with approved designs.
  • Monitor project progress, providing technical guidance and resolving temporary works issues as required.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, BS 5975, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Work closely with site teams to ensure temporary works are integrated seamlessly with permanent works.
  • Maintain detailed records and reports on temporary works activities.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Temporary Works Manager, Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC), or similar role within water infrastructure (wastewater) projects.
  • Strong knowledge of temporary works design principles, construction methodologies, and safety regulations.
  • Experience working on wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, pumping stations, or related water infrastructure projects.
  • Relevant engineering degree (Civil/Structural preferred) or equivalent industry experience.
  • Certifications: TWC training (CITB or equivalent) is essential; Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) certification is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple temporary works elements across large-scale infrastructure projects.
