Job description

Our client, a leading player in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering (Architecture) to join their team on a contract basis. This role is integral to the Submarine Solutions business and involves a hybrid working arrangement with the location in Barrow or Filton.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining model-based systems engineering (MBSE) architecture for submarine systems.
• Utilising modelling tools to create and manage systems models.
• Ensuring system architecture aligns with overall project requirements and standards.
• Collaborating with various stakeholders to integrate system models into the broader engineering environment.
• Providing technical leadership and guidance within the systems engineering domain.
• Reviewing and approving systems engineering documentation and deliverables.
• Conducting technical assessments and evaluations to support project decisions.
• Coordinating with cross-functional teams to manage project timelines and deliverables.

Job Requirements:

• Experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
• Proficiency with modelling tools.
• Understanding of systems engineering principles and best practices within the defence sector.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid working model, spending 2 days on-site per fortnight.
• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
