Job description
This is a great opportunity to work with a world-leading organisation in the defence sector, involved in some of the most advanced missile and guided weapons systems. Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading defence organisation based in Stevenage. This role will involve working within a unit and missile assembly facility, where you'll be a critical part of the team ensuring the efficient build and integration of complex defence systems. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on precision and quality.
Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Instruction Support: Compile and update manufacturing instructions for missile systems, ensuring accuracy and clarity.

Tooling Design & Commissioning: Design, commission, and prove tooling to support production activities.

Validation & Quality Assurance: Assist in the industrial validation process, including conducting FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and First Article Inspection (FAI).

Problem Resolution: Resolve technical issues during manufacturing to ensure production runs smoothly and efficiently.

Configuration Management: Ensure design modifications are integrated into manufacturing instructions, maintaining strict configuration control.

Non-Conformance Management: Use SAP to support the Non-Conformance process, addressing deviations and manufacturing issues as they arise.
Role Requirements:
- Formal Qualifications: Technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3/TR23/TR21) with further education to HNC or equivalent.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience within an engineering discipline, particularly in assembly and integration.

Technical Expertise: Ability to interpret design drawings and develop manufacturing build instructions for both skilled and semi-skilled operators.

Defence Manufacturing: Experience with the assembly and integration of small/miniature electro-mechanical actuation systems and electronic sub-assemblies.

Collaboration: Strong communication skills, able to work effectively within a team environment and across different levels of the organisation.

Customer Focus: Ability to understand customer requirements and adapt to meet them.

Process Adherence: Understanding of and ability to work within strict company processes and procedures while ensuring quality.

Training: Must have Manual Handling and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) training.
