Job description
Main Responsibilities:

- Evaluate the success of the company in achieving its goals and formulating plans to correct any issues if the company is not reaching them
- Manage the daily operations and revenue generation of the company and ensuring its continual growth
- Assist in maximizing the company's operating performance and achieving its financial goals
- Assist in managing the company's finances by identifying ways to increase revenue and decrease costs, analyzing financial reports, and preparing departmental operating budgets
- Develop long-term strategies and sponsor critical initiatives to promote, achieve and sustain a culture of exceptional employee engagement and overall excellence
- Be an active participant in proposing innovative approaches and solutions to engage employees and bring excitement and new experiences aligned with our culture and brand
- Drive and support planning and execution of the Employee Engagement survey; provide guidance and be a driver of improved employee retention and engagement
- Be a leader in employee communications. Maintain communication channels that provide relevant and essential information in a timely and consistent manner to staff
Project Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Metrolinx Capital Program Group (CPG) EVPs and VPs and Operations, be responsible for devising, monitoring, and adjusting the LUSD Safety Strategy.
- Be a key contributor to the cultural change programme and supporting activities, which aims to significantly uplift the accountability and proactive intervention of line management in safety leadership.
- Actively support Metrolinx working groups, such as 'Work Planning Standards', 'Red Zone Green Zone' and the roll out of '5 Steps to Safety', in driving safety improvements though planning standards.
- Provide advice to Program Delivery Teams with respect to legal responsibilities and legislation, in line with Canadian and Ontaria State Safety Legislation.
- Participate and/or lead on internal compliance, assurance audits, inspections, undertake onsite technical inspections and provide feedback.
- Support Metrolinx and General Contractor investigations/enquiries and undertake/support incident investigations.
- Drive continual improvement in the support and service provided to Program Delivery Teams, operations and other departments.
- Be responsible for putting LUSD business safety meeting cadence and reporting in place that will support and encourage a culture of continuous improvement.
Here's What You'll Need:
- 20+ years of experience in one of the following: program and project management, project controls, engineering, technology, technical advisory, property, design etc.
- At least three years of industry-related experience, including five years in upper management required
- Degree qualified or similar, ideally in Health and Safety or Engineering is mandatory. Further educational qualification or professional membership is desired.
- Chartership with safety related industry related body such as IOSH or the IIRSM
- Established track record of driving operational safety improvements in regulated safety-critical and process-led businesses.
- Managing teams of over 15 people, with a track-record of driving performance and evolving mindset
- Previous experience of supporting businesses moving from a tactical/procedural safety context to the desired leadership based on modern behavioural-led safety strategy.
- Acting as a link between health, safety, environment, and performance and using behavioural change to address underlying performance issues.
- Able to work cross-functionally and act as a focus point of the broader team, responsible for the overall performance, not just safety.
- Has an established external safety network beyond transport / electrical industries and including HSE.
- Must have experience delivering projects successfully while ensuring our vision and strategic goals remain a top priority (balanced approach)
- Significant experience in the industry, having successfully led teams through strategic business objectives (i.e. organizational change management, growth & geographic expansion, etc.)
