Job description
Our client, a leader in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Senior Engineer - Weights to join their team on a 12-month contract basis. This role will be based at one of their sites in Scotstoun, Filton, or Broadoak with hybrid working arrangements available. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing weight impacts, change calculations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams for the Type 26 (T26) design project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding and managing weights impact in changes and their margin impacts
- Carrying out calculations and writing up assumptions and exclusions
- Extracting and collating data from other teams to create change calculations
- Utilising information from BoM lists and CAD software
- Reporting to a key stakeholder
Job Requirements:
- Experience as a Weights Engineer
- Proficiency in using Excel, MS Office, and essential AutoCAD experience
- Experience with using Foran will be beneficial
- Experience in the naval ships industry is useful but not essential; experience in aviation or automotive sectors is also acceptable
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across teams
- Strong Excel skills
- Previous weights engineering experience

- Hybrid arrangements with 1-2 days a week on site
