Our client, a leading provider within the Defence and Security sector, is currently seeking a Cell Lead for their manufacturing operations.

Job description

This permanent role requires a qualified professional with a strong background in manufacturing processes and leadership skills in the Defence industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating work in progress through the shared service cells to meet the operations plan
  • Scheduling test schedules and ensuring calibration of chambers and test rigs
  • Responsible for testing to Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) and reporting failures
  • Owning ATP test database and producing individual test programme reports
  • Early adoption of new test equipment and processes, acting as a training provider
  • Providing leadership, guidance, and coaching for cell employees
  • Recording, monitoring, and advising on production performance metrics (SQCDP)
  • Ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety procedures
  • Analysing production data to determine root causes of problems and proactively solving them
  • Identifying training requirements within the cell and updating the skill matrix
  • Championing cell problem-solving exercises and leading continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conducting daily stand-up meetings (DSUMs) to ensure SQCDP metrics are met
  • Conducting regular personnel development reviews with team members
  • Overseeing scrap analysis processes and justifying overtime in line with department budget
  • Maintaining accurate time attendance systems for the cell
  • Liaising with Operations management as part of the planning process
  • Deputising for the Production Manager when required

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the Defence sector
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to coordinate and schedule work efficiently to meet production targets
  • Proficiency in using and understanding SQCDP metrics
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyse production data
  • Commitment to Health & Safety regulations
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to provide training and leadership to team members
