Job description

Our client, a leader in the defence industry, is currently seeking a Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering (Requirements & Acceptance) to join their team in Huddersfield on a 6-month contract. This role focuses on engineered solutions for submarines within their prestigious Submarine Solutions division.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage systems engineering activities within the submarine programme
• Ensure all systems engineering activities meet project requirements and standards
• Implement and manage requirements management toolsets such as DOORS
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure cohesive and effective workflow
• Provide training sessions to team members, both one-to-one and in group settings
• Manage and control engineering changes and BOM structures
• Oversee the complete product lifecycle management for systems engineering projects

Job Requirements:

• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, concepts, practices, and standards
• Significant experience in product development within an engineering context
• Proficiency with requirements management tools, especially DOORS
• Experience with SAP is beneficial
• Collaborative and proactive approach to working within engineering teams
• Ability to conduct training sessions for team members
• Knowledge of BOM structure and change control processes
• Knowledge of product lifecycle management
• Experience in the defence industry, particularly with submarines, would be advantageous

• Contract length: 6 months
• Working hours: 37 hours per week
• Location: Huddersfield
• On-site requirement: 5 days a week
