Job description

We're seeking 4 Production Planners to support the delivery of efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production processes within our naval programme operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret customer requirements to create clear and structured task breakdowns that accurately reflect current production methods and dependencies.

  • Develop detailed low-level schedules and ensure smooth workflow through established planning stages (Yellow to Green), identifying and resolving blockers on Pink/Red boards.

  • Estimate time and labour required for each trade using production process standards, parametric methods, and practical experience.

  • Identify materials, services, and subcontractor needs, liaising with the supply chain and reviewing supplier quotes to ensure accurate costing and full work scope coverage.

  • Maintain and enhance standard job libraries, incorporating parts information, feedback, and performance history into planning tools and templates.

  • Support the implementation of performance metrics and planning improvements through continuous monitoring and feedback.

  • Foster close collaboration with production trade leads and subcontractors to continuously refine planning norms and estimating accuracy.

  • Report non-conforming products or services in line with internal quality and compliance processes.

  • Coach and mentor apprentices and junior staff, sharing best practices and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience in production planning.

  • Solid understanding of planning workflows and task list structures across large-scale manufacturing or engineering projects.

  • Proficiency in cost estimating, task scheduling, and materials planning.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, especially when liaising across supply chain, production, and subcontractor teams.

Be part of one of the UK's most prestigious Maritime organisations.
